The Christmas message “Peace on earth” is a deep wish that all people harbour in our time. The victims of war and violence are lamented or mourned on all sides. A fool is the man who tears down cities and temples, for he who destroys, creates late ruin for himself, it says in The Trojan Women. Here Euripides shows the great suffering that war leaves behind and reminds us of its destructive power. While we deal with the past in our publishing work, the texts repeatedly confront us with the effects of injustice and lack of freedom.
