Lars Käker: Draußen

The exhibition Outside – Peripheral Districts of the Portrait presents the latest chapter in Lars Käkers’ artistic career. His interest returns again and again to people who find themselves on the margins of society. Following on from the series “Outside” and “Outside II”, the portraits show personality and anonymity, openness and demarcation at the same time. Käker’s style addresses itself through excerpts from earlier exhibitions as the result of a process. It experiences decisive moments of development in the series “Village” and “Outside”. Their strong seriality suggests a comparison among themselves and optically forms a group that on closer inspection disintegrates into individuals and personalities. Between the latest works and their thematic and optical precursors, Lars Käker takes stock of his previous artistic work.
