Jo Kley: A Cosmos Stone.

The exhibition “A Cosmos Stone. Sculptures by Jo Kley” presents current works and work series by the sculptor from Kiel. For more than twenty years Jo Kley has been creating sculptures that can be found all over the world today. Kley’s feeling for the stone brings this unmoving and yet so metamorphic material of the cosmos to life. He makes the tension in the seemingly motionless visible, shows irrepressible energy in solid form. His repertoire includes the universal forms of the world, of life, of transformation: spirals, crystals and knots, whose symbolic richness continually inspires Jo Kley’s work anew. Between earth and sky he spans ladders and towers, thus referring to the universally understood and heavenly striving that underlies all living things. His creative cosmos unites myths and gods, astronomy and earths history, timeless symbolism and eternal change.
