The recently founded imprint Solivagus Praeteritum focuses on the cultural history of the „long“ 19th century.
Solivagus Praeteritum also publishes the series „Kulturgeschichte des Politischen“ [„Cultural History of the Political Sphere“], edited by Prof. Dr Dr Rainer Hering. It contains studies on the German and European history of the „long“ 19th century that are connected by their cultural historical perspective on the political sphere as well as the interconnection of politics, culture, and society. Cultural history is understood to be a valuable addition, not an antipode to traditional political history. The title of the series may not be understood as a methodical manifest – on the contrary, it is supposed to include a broad spectrum of various cultural historical perspectives and methods, different notions of what the term „political sphere“ describes. The aim of the studies published in the series is to contribute to our understanding of political processes in history, to offer new perspectives by employing innovative methods and asking new questions. Because the cultural history of the political sphere is a relatively young field that only emerged around the turn of the millennium, it offers many chances for innovation and valuable contributions to an important debate. The series is open for monographs as well as for conference volumes and source editions.
